Belgian club KV Oostende have turned down a request by Nigeria to release Godwin Saviour for next month’s All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
Saviour, 19, only recently signed a three-year contract with KVO.
“I would have loved to feature at the All Africa Games for my country, but my club have stopped me. All the same, I wish the team the very best and I am confident they will come out victorious because we have a great team of players and coaches,” the forward told AfricanFootball.com.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) fired an invitation letter to Saviour’s club this week on the promptings of coach Samson Siasia to spark off another club versus country row.
The Portuguese club of Shehu Abdullahi have also refused to release the midfielder for the AAG.
It now looks like only Turkey-based skipper Azubuike Okechukwu and Umar Aminu will join the squad of players from the domestic league directly in Congo.
